Prairie softball, baseball get in games before spring break

The Prairie baseball team split with Lapwai March 27, taking a 9-6 loss in the opener and winning the second game 10-1.

A six-run second inning tipped the first game to Lapwai — the continuation of a rain-sopped postponement of their March 22 meeting.

With a fresh start in the late game, Prairie stacked up two runs in the second, two runs in the third and five runs in the fourth on the strength of multi-hit games by Owen Anderson (3-for-3), Dereck Arnzen (2-for-3), Tate Bordey (2-for-3) and Jace Perrin (2-for-3).

Spencer Schumacher pitched the win, working five innings and striking out 12 with 80 pitches.

Up next, the Pirates have a make-up double-header at Pomeroy Friday, April 6, with start times penciled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The squad is also slated to host Highland at 4:30 p.m. April 10.

Softballers slip at Colton

Colton’s softball team prevailed 13-3 in five innings last Thursday, March 29.

Prairie got hits from Josie Peery, Sarah Ross and Kodie Tidwell.

Prairie is on spring break this week. Next up, PHS is set to visit Kendrick at 4 p.m. April 10.
