Clearwater Valley's Davis McElroy slugged a 1-1 pitch out to left center field and gave the Rams a 1-0 lead against Grangeville Monday afternoon, April 9.

KOOSKIA Grangeville's Hunter Schoo kept Clearwater Valley off-balance for all but one mighty swing by Davis McElroy and the Bulldogs prevailed 4-1 in a late-scheduled makeup of an early-season rain-out Monday night, April 9.
Leading off the second inning of a scoreless afternoon game, McElroy tagged Schoo's 1-1 offering into the grass just beyond the fence in left-center. After walking the next batter and beaning another, Schoo escaped further trouble by striking out the side.
Grangeville, having sent four to the plate each of the first two innings, capitalized on a free pass to standout Chase Adkison, who was plunked for the second time in as many plate appearances against pitcher Ryan Denham. Adkison scored on a double by Tyler Stephens, who then scored on a ball Trent Hunter put in play toward short. (Hunter reached on an error, which allowed Stephens to score -- a costly defensive lapse in a game CV played otherwise tightly.)
Grangeville got insurance runs in the fifth and sixth, with Stephens once again driving in Adkison, then Adkison driving in Dawson McEwen.
Next, weather permitting, Grangeville is scheduled to play Orofino Thursday and CV has an April 14 double-header against Kendrick.
