— Just out of hibernation, the residents of Lowell are in for a dynamic spring.

Two houses, one being built, one behind Three Rivers Resort, and one up on the Selway River. Both construction companies start this week for about 90 days; I guess that’s how long it takes.

Then a concrete guy with five men from Boise are starting work on the Fish Creek Bridge up the Lochsa River; that’s right away, and it’s a six-month project.

We have Knife River working on Highway 12, massive equipment and big crew (60-70 workers) and flaggers coming in for same project.

Free Press / Marie Smith Ruth Smith is 12 years old on April 19, loves school, loves Lowell, loves life. That’s our great bus driver in background, Roseanne Graham; she loves life, too.

Rafting outfitters are gearing up for their whitewater season, and that means guide training and all equipment at the ready, boats, buses, trailers and vans.

The businesses are coming out of their winter mode. Restaurants, motels, cabins, all services are just about ready for a busy summer!

Are we ready? You bet!
