MacMenamin takes first in 800, 1600, anchors 4x400 relay

— Kamiah’s Michael MacMenamin placed first individually in two events during the Nez Perce Games last Friday, April 20. He won the 800 in 2:06.30 and won the 1600 in 4:45.80. And at the end of the day, he anchored Kamiah’s 4x400 relay to second place in 3:54.90, about four seconds behind Deary.

Kamiah’s boys medley relay got the best of Deary, with Jesse Knox, Thomas Reynolds, Tyrel Henry and Jace Sams outpacing Deary by more than five seconds with a 4:04.70 finish.

In the 200 meter dash, Cristian Lopez won with a time of 24.14 seconds. In the field, Kaleb Oatman won the discus with a throw of 132-3.

Among area girls, the Prairie 4x400 relay turned in a first-place performance, with Theresa Wemhoff, Jordyn Higgins, Ciara Chaffee and Laney Uhlenkott logging a time of 4:25.05. The PHS quartet of Wemhoff, Sierra McWilliams, Higgins and Uhlenkott won the 4x200 relay in 1:53.44.

Individually, Chaffee placed second in the 800 in 2:35.00 and Ellea Uhlenkott placed second in the 300 hurdles in 54.14.

Area teams competed at Lapwai on Tuesday afternoon and return to Kamiah at 10 a.m. Saturday for the Whitepine League Championships.
