— Marty Smith and crew, with Three Rivers Rafting, including ace guides Hunt Paddison, Gary McKinney, Sara Sweeny, Gus, and Colin Hughes, finished their last Upper Selway trip of 2018. Landing at the takeout above Selway Falls they had stories of “the Perfect Trip!” Yes, it’s hot, but the rivers all around us are perfect for rafting, fishing, and fun. No smoke in the area so far, so the month of August begins on a good note.

The area upriver has been busy with locals and travelers, and last weekend with a well-attended Kooskia Days, lots of folks showed up in Lowell and Syringa to enjoy their old stomping grounds. Everyone had a good time.

So now we enjoy August and all that it brings. As I always say, nobody ran off with a trucker, no cougar attacks, no dead beavers floating down the river, and the huckleberries are ripe!

Life is good!
