LEWISTON Customers of Inland Cellular were without phone service as of press time Tuesday.
In a press release dated Monday, Aug. 13, Inland Cellular stated it is currently experiencing a voice network outage due to a major commercial power disruption.
This outage caused surges and spikes, which destroyed their battery backups and generators, damaging essential hardware and information.
Damages were due in part to wildfires.
“We are in the process of restoring the information needed to run our voice network. We are working with our business partners to set up alternative routes for voice traffic until our switch is fully functional,” said marketing manager Tony Mastroberardino in the release.
Inland Cellular stated equipment is being flown via three private jets from various parts of the country to restore service.
“We understand the severity of this situation and we are exhausting all resources to solve this problem as quickly as possible,” Mastroberardino said.
