— Lots of weddings upriver this month. They had a big wedding at Syringa last weekend. ROW hosted a fabulous gala of events at River Dance Lodge, along the Clearwater River. Next weekend Three Rivers Resort is in the wedding business at the confluence of the Lochsa, Selway, and Clearwater, something about converging and joining two humans into one, I think! O’Hara Campground on the Selway had a biker wedding last Wednesday, 2 p.m. – it was 100 degrees!

With Internet being a big part of our lives now, and drones taking photos of this beautiful wilderness we live in upriver, business all around seems to be on the rise. The State of Idaho has a great new ad that focuses on this section of the state, abundant with recreation.

A couple of big motorcycle groups came through this past week, camping up the Selway, going to Wilderness Inn for breakfast. Those guys and gals are tough cookies, but they still like to roast marshmallows and put their feet in the water. Underneath all the leather is just a fun-loving person.

Be sure you get in some vacation time because school starts early this year.

Somehow, they got the big crane off the banks of the Lochsa with a bigger crane. Thank goodness they both didn’t end up in the river.

The resurface job on Highway 12 continues to advance, six days a week. Those guys are hard workers.

Bicyclists are still “peddling across America,” and fighting the heat.

Everyone has their fingers crossed that we steer clear of wildfires this year. We’ve had five years of smoke and close calls. Maybe we’ll get lucky in 2018.

Quote from Max: “I hate shots, I’m never going to get another shot ever.” Oh, and new puppy in Lowell, actually two new puppies, Moose and Duchess. I guess I’m the great gramma!

P.S. Blackberries everywhere. I pick one gallon an hour, Lorraine Smith picks five gallons an hour.
