Cottonwood News: Area pinochle players sought for ‘marathon’ group

— The fair was a huge success with the nice weather and lots of farmers finished with the harvest. Jeannie Fitch did a great job of being grand marshal. Smoke from the forest fires wasn’t even too bad.

The 19th Annual St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation Golf 4 Life tournament will be Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Grangeville Golf and Country Club. Registration is at 10 a.m. with tee off at 11 a.m. It is an 18-hole scramble limited to 16 four-person teams. There is a fee of $75 per player entry. Contact Kim to sign up at or call 208-962-2100.

Attention pinochle players: If you are interested in joining the Pinochle Marathon Group, call Dorothy Arnotti, 208-962-3613, or Judy Arnzen, 208-962-7795, before Sept. 16. Playing begins in the fall and ends in April. Join the Fun!

Father Paul will be on vacation until Aug. 27. Father Reuben Nuxoll LC is visiting his family and will be celebrating Masses in the Tri-Parishes during that time.

Grief Share is a ministry that tends to the needs of community members who are in need of guidance as they deal with the death of a family member, spouse, or a friend. It is Bible-based, but it is non-denominational.

All faiths or nonchurch-goers are all welcome. There are 12 classes which include a video, discussion group and a workbook. on a variety of different topics.

Dates for the classes are Sept. 12, 19 and 26; Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24; Nov. 7, 14 and 28; and Dec. 5 and 12. They will be meeting Wednesday nights with classes running from 6 to 8 p.m. A dinner will be served each night.

Classes will be held in the Catholic Education Center (CEC Building) in Cottonwood behind the Prairie Elementary School.
