By this date in 2017, the GHS girls had allowed a combined 19 goals in losses to McCall and Priest River, but this fall, GHS put together one of the first truly competitive games in program history in playing St. Maries within 3-1 last Saturday, Aug. 25.
Grangeville played McCall “neck and neck” — evenly, coach John Cuffe said — in a 7-3 loss earlier in the week.
Against St. Maries, Grangeville held a 1-1 halftime tie and ended a game within two goals for just the second time in program history. (GHS played Kellogg within 6-4 last September.)
Earlier in the week, Mia Rioux scored two goals against McCall.
Next, Grangeville (0-2) is set to host Kellogg today, Aug. 29, then Priest River on Thursday, Aug. 30, with the girls next in action Sept. 8 at Timberlake.
