Heart Walk

Participants went round and round at the Grangeville High School track last Saturday, Aug. 25, for the Heart Walk fund-raiser. The event was organized by Jennifer Pollan (right; with Doug Hohman on left) to benefit The Children’s Heart Foundation and the Adult Congenital Heart Association, raise awareness, and to honor and remember those impacted by congenital heart disease. Overall, participants walked or ran a total 234 laps, and a total $1,605 was raised. Those who still want to donate to the effort can do so online at http://events.congenitalheartwalk.org. Pollan’s son, Rykken, was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect – hypoplastic left heart syndrome - at three days old in 2009. Since, he has undergone three open heart surgeries, six heart procedures and one emergency stomach surgery.
