Salmon River heading to New Meadows for district tournament

Salmon River’s 1AD2 District 3 tournament opener Thursday night, Feb. 1, against tournament host Meadows Valley, is an early eliminator: a loss would end either team’s post-season. Meadows’ regular season ended with back-to-back forfeits to second-seeded Council and third-seeded SRHS last week. The Riggins girls will be without injured standout Chevelle Shepherd.

Thursday’s winner will face Council in the second round, to be played Feb. 3, and the district title game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Feb. 6. Thursday’s loser could still reach the state tournament by way of a bi-district play-in game, which a District 3 team will reach by winning two elimination games during the tournament, the second of which will be played Feb. 8.

The play-in is scheduled to pit the District 2 runner-up against the District 3 runner-up at 1 p.m. Feb. 10 at Grangeville High.
