Tri-Valley advances; Salmon River to face Council Thursday night

— The Salmon River girls will face elimination in a district tournament rematch with Council at 7 p.m. Thursday night, having lost to Tri-Valley 52-37 in the District III title game.

“The girls played their hearts out,” coach Paula Tucker said. “Without Chevelle we only have seven players, and Tri-Valley is quick, fast, athletic – and they have about 13 or 14 kids. My kids played hard but just ran out of gas.”

Payton Branstetter (12 points) and Lotus Harper (10) were Salmon River’s top scorers.

With a win, the SRHS girls would face a play-in game at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at Grangeville High School.
