Absentee voting under way

Voting is under way for both the Mountain View and Kamiah school district’s levy elections.

Last Friday, Feb. 9, the Idaho County Elections Office began sending mail-out absentee ballots to voters.

On Monday, Feb. 12, absentee voting opened at the Idaho County Courthouse, which continues through March 9.

Voters will be deciding the $3,090,048 MVSD 244 levy and the $500,000 Kamiah JSD 304 levy in the Tuesday, March 13 election.

The last day to preregister to vote in the levy election is this Friday, Feb. 16. Voters may also register at the polls. Also prior to the levy vote, the last day to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you is March 2.

Looking ahead to the May 15 primary election, voters are reminded that in order to vote in the Republican primary they must be affiliated with that party; the Democrat primary is open, and affiliation is not mandated. The last day to change voter affiliation for the primary is March 9. Unaffiliated voters can either declare affiliation at the courthouse by March 9 or at the polls on May 15.
