Snow returns with a flury - weather warning for up to 11 inches through weekend

The National Weather Service Missoula Office has issued a winter storm warning, effective from 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, through 4 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18. Impact within region to be eastern portion of Idaho County.

Plan on difficult travel conditions. Tree branches could fall. Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times.

What to Expect:

  • Through tonight (Friday, Feb. 16), snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 7 to 11 inches for elevations above 3000 feet, including Lolo Pass. 1 to 3 inches expected for elevations below 3000 feet, including Lowell. For Saturday into Sunday, heavy snow expected, especially above 3000 feet. Total snow accumulations of 12 to 18 inches for elevations above 3000 feet. 1 to 2 inches below 3000 feet.


  • Elk River, Highway 11 Pierce to Headquarters, Pierce, Dixie, Elk City, and Highway 12 Lowell to Lolo Pass.


  • For the Winter Storm Warning, from 10 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. PST Sunday. For the Winter Weather advisory, until 4 AM PST Saturday.
