WHITE BIRD A couple of interesting facts that were sent to me last week. First, congratulations to “White Bird Kid” Fredrick Gerald Taylor who is the new 2018 VP of guides for the Idaho Outfitters and Guides Association. Fred graduates this spring from University of Idaho, where he wrote in the current IOGA bulletin, “I hope to serve you well and bring new members to our organization.” Hooray, Fred!
Another congratulation goes out to Rob Beeson for being named Fire Volunteer of the Year by the White Bird Fire Department. “Fireball Rob strikes again!”
Speaking of that, I got the news that the Annual Fireman’s Ball was again a success with around 200 people attending. After all was said and done, we were able to donate around $2,000 to all surrounding volunteer fire departments. We appreciate all the volunteer help and, of course, those who came out and helped support this great cause!
No meetings this next week, but some upcoming events will be Sunday, Feb. 25, starting at 8 a.m., is the WBARD Breakfast. They will be having omelets and fruit. Donations are gladly accepted to help keep the breakfasts going.
March 1-4 is the Outdoors Show in Boise and the Chamber will have a booth down there, so if you want your business recognized, get your printed pamphlets, brochures, flyers, business cards to Verna at the Canyon House as there is still time. There will also be a continuously-running slide show going, too.
Then on March 8, at the IOOF Hall, starting a 6 p.m., come join the chamber in an open forum community meeting. We want to extend an invitation to all community members, business owners, organizations and anyone who may be interested in what we have planned. We would like to see your input and how we can assist you. A community calendar of events and much more is in the making.
The big event will be held on Sunday, March 18, starting at 7:30 a.m., is the St. Paddy’s Day Sausage Feed at the IOOF Hall. Come join in the fun and have some of the famous “green” pancakes. Then if you are looking for an outing, head to Pittsburg Landing and join the Pathfinders in their ride, cooking hamburgers and hot dogs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., (small donation). If you have the time take the trail into Big Canyon. You can unload at the old mill site for the OHVers.
Cribbage winners were 1st, OC Abbott and 2nd was Bob Cash.
Pinochle winner was Polly Fischer.
Gun Club Shoot, I didn’t receive the results so will have them next week hopefully.
