Let’s stop the misinformation and discuss the gives and takes
We, the school board, do not get to decide how much funding we receive from the state. We can only take what the government gives us and do the best we can with that money. To keep things “status quo” we are short $3.6 million. The state has continued to tell the people that they need to have financial responsibility in its communities’ education. They tell you this by requiring school districts to run “supplemental” levies to make up the deficit of the funding. 91 of 115 school districts run levies. How do you think the state is able to give these new tax cuts? My thought is by transferring $1 billion to supplemental levy taxes.

We always welcome input in our business meetings that we have every month that the community is welcome to attend. We are having public meetings the 6th in Kooskia and the 7th in Grangeville where we will be discussing the levy in detail. We will answer any questions we can. Taxpayers, don’t be fooled by misinformation being spread in your communities. Ask those who are elected to represent you for those answers.
