ST. MARIES The Clearwater Valley and Kamiah wrestlers continued their run of strong showings on the mats Jan. 6 at the Chad E. Ross Memorial Tournament, with Christian Fabbi (126) and Peyton Whipple (182) named outstanding wrestlers.
The CV-Kamiah cooperative scored 277 points, placing ahead of St. Maries (second, 230) and the other local teams — as Grangeville placed 10th and Prairie placed ninth.
Individually, the co-op’s placers included top finishes by Whipple, Fabbi, Carson Morrow (160) and Ty Dominguez (170), and top-four finishes as follows: second placers Davis McElroy (160), Lane Schilling (170), Austin Corey (195) and Layten Gould (220); third placers Landon Olsen (98) and Tristan Dominguez (120); and fourth placers Johnnie Raymond (113), Cedar Fisher (145) and Ashton Mendenhall (152).
For Prairie, the top placers were Jace Perrin (second, 195) and Sierra McWilliams (fourth, 106).
For Grangeville, the top placers were Caleb Barger (third, 113) and Brandon Stump (fourth, 220).
Coming — Local wrestlers are set to compete this Thursday, Jan. 11, at Clearwater Valley High School, with weigh-ins at 5 p.m. and wrestling to start at 6 p.m. Grangeville, Prairie, CV, Kamiah and other Central Idaho League wrestlers are anticipated to compete.
