COTTONWOOD Idaho County’s first baby of 2018 came on a cold but clear night.
Francisco and Delfi Rojas of Grangeville welcomed a baby daughter, Alba Rojas, Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, 10:16 p.m., at St. Mary’s Hospital in Cottonwood. Dr. Secrest was the delivering physician.
Alba weighed seven pounds, 11 ounces and measured 21 inches long. She joins big sisters Yadira, 17; Cecilia, 15; and a big brother, Paco, 5.
The family narrowed down a couple names and then voted for “Alba,” which they all liked, Delfi explained.
Although Alba was a much-waited-for arrival, the family was not expecting her until closer to her due date of Jan. 23.
“So, being the first baby was a bit of a surprise,” smiled Delfi, adding that Paco did want a brother – but was very happy with his baby sister.
“She looks like him – the faces she makes,” laughed Delfi.
Grandparents are Ismael and Francisca Montes of Grangeville and Manuel and Maria Rojas of Mexico.
Dad, big sisters, big brother and mom were all loving on baby Alba at the hospital Friday afternoon. The family was expected to all be home in Grangeville by Saturday afternoon.
