Legislature is wise in not seeking expansion

Letter to the Editor

Is Medicaid expansion really “the fiscally responsible thing to do?” When Medicaid was sold to the states by the federal government, they were told that their responsibility would be 10 percent of the cost. It became 30 percent. Currently, we are being told that the cost to the state will again be 10 percent. Ok great, what if it goes to 30 percent again?

Simple math will tell you that our state budget will only be able to fund Medicaid expansion. No education funding, no funding for roads, prisons or any of the other services we have come to expect our state government to provide. How does any of this help the poor? The legislature using knowledge guided by experience is wise in not seeking Medicaid expansion.

Socialists always think they know better how to be “fiscally responsible” with the money we earn.
