All Wheat Stocks Stored in Northwest Region Down 9 Percent from Last Year.

All wheat stored in all positions on December 1, 2017 totaled 57.0 million bushels in Idaho, down from 72.5 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 25 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 16 percent compared to the previous year.

  • In Oregon, wheat stored in all positions totaled 32.6 million bushels, down from 35.3 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 4 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 23 percent compared to the previous year.
  • In Washington, wheat stored in all positions totaled 127 million bushels, down from 130 million bushels a year ago. Offfarm stocks were up 1 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 33 percent compared to the previous year.
  • Nationally, wheat stored in all positions totaled 1.87 billion bushels, down from 2.08 billion bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 2 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 31 percent compared to the previous year.

Barley stocks in all positions on December 1, 2017 totaled 37.1 million bushels in Idaho, down from 46.2 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 30 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 9 percent compared to the previous year.

  • In Oregon, barley stored in all positions totaled 1.20 million bushels, up from 1.1million bushels a year ago. Offfarm stocks were up 35 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 8 percent compared to the previous year.
  • In Washington, barley stored in all positions totaled 4.44 million bushels, down from 6.00 million bushels a year ago. Offfarm stocks were down 29 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 12 percent compared to the previous year.
  • Nationally, barley stored in all positions totaled 155 million bushels, down from 193 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 14 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 25 percent compared to the previous year.

Oats stored in off-farm locations on December 1, 2017 totaled 178,000 bushels in Idaho, down 50 percent from a year ago.

  • In Oregon, oats stored in off-farm locations totaled 338,000 bushels, down 24 percent from a year ago.
  • In Washington, oats stored in off-farm locations totaled 55,000 bushels, down 35 percent from a year ago.
  • Nationally, oats stored in all positions totaled 66.8 million bushels, down from 75.5 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 3 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 23 percent compared to the previous year.
