OROFINO The Clearwater Valley-Kamiah cooperative wrestling team posted the high score during the Orofino Maniac Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 13, with Johnnie Raymond, Christian Fabbi, Cedar Fisher, Carson Morrow, Davis McElroy, Ty Dominguez, Lane Schilling and Peyton Whipple each reaching the final in his respective bracket.
For Grangeville, Parker Walters and Brandon Stump reached the final at 220, and for Prairie, Jace Perrin squared off with Whipple at 182.
Placing first were: Fisher (145), Morrow (152), Dominguez (170), Whipple (182) and Walters (220).
Placing second were: Raymond (113), Fabbi (126), McElroy (160), Schilling (170), Perrin (182) and Stump (220).
Wrestling season is set to continue Jan. 19-20 at the Clearwater Classic in Lewiston and at a separate tournament in McCall.

Grangeville’s pin speed record falls — again
By pinning a Lewiston JV wrestler in six seconds, Parker Walters nicked the school’s speed record from Noah Kaschmitter (who pinned in seven in 2017) and Shayden Wassmuth (eight in 2016).
