Special speaker to discuss stockwater rights on federal ground

— Idaho County farmers, ranchers and anyone who is interested in property rights and water issues is invited to a program at the Grangeville Senior Citizens Center Monday, Jan. 22, 6:30 p.m.

Idaho County Farm Bureau will sponsor Tim Lowry from Owyhee County who will lead a discussion on how he and Paul Nettleson defeated the BLAM (Bureau of Land Management) and the Idaho Supreme Court to keep their stockwater rights on federal ground. Despite resistance from the state, these two ranchers spent millions to save stockwater rights. The case can be found on-line by Googling “Joyce Livestock verses U.S.”
