SRHS boys avenge Garden Valley loss

Randy McClure’s 29-point effort last Friday night, Jan. 19, led Salmon River past league rival Garden Valley 63-58 and avenged a 77-40 loss the Savages sustained at Garden Valley earlier this month.

Canyon Harper, who finished with 11, and Devan Branstetter, who finished with 10, also came out hot in the first quarter, keying a 21-point first frame as Salmon River built an 11-point lead that withstood Garden Valley’s surge during the third quarter.

McClure scored 12 during the decisive fourth quarter, including four on free throws in addition to four field goals.

This week, Salmon River is scheduled to visit Tri-Valley Jan. 25 and to visit Meadows on Jan. 26. Their final home game is Feb. 2 against Cascade, and their regular season finale is Feb. 7 at Council.

The district tournament is slated Feb. 13-21 at McCall, with the top seeds on bye and the Savages to likely to play an elimination game Feb. 13 given they presently stand third.
