— As we approach the end of January, Mother Nature is doing it again: rain, snow, hail, sunshine or wind, you name it and we’ve had it.

The upcoming meetings are food bank pickup is on the 1st, then on the 8th is the SRAG meeting at 10 a.m., with the chamber meeting at 10:30 a.m.

The Fireman’s Ball is fast approaching. Take your Valentine out for a great evening and help support all the surrounding area volunteer fire departments. Start with supper at Hoot’s with a small charge and continue the evening with action items, dancing and just plain ole fun. It all starts at 7 p.m. on Feb. 10, but call ahead of time to reserve your dinner. There is also a $5 raffle at the door. All proceeds will go to the local volunteer fire departments. This fund-raiser is sponsored by the White Bird Chamber.

Many places will be having Valentine specials and one of them is the Canyon House. Stop in and check out the unique gift items if you seem to be at odds as to what to get that special one in your life.

Red’s will be having a special and will have more on that next week.

Gun Club Winter Shoot results are Boyd Hopkins and Wade Sickels shooting a 25 each and Jim McMahon with a 24. In the Youth Shooters, Kycen Sickels shot a 22. It was cloudy with 20 shooters this week.

The games are going very well, and many people are getting out even if it’s for only a little while…cabin fever has set in. Cribbage winner was John Miesner and the pinochle winner was Pat Larson.

Birthdays for the last of January are: Carolyn Anderson, Jon Taylor, Cody Farmer (28th), Payton Trivitt, Chance Brumley (29th), Cindy Zbinden, Melissa Blimka (31st), Tanya Schultz, Jim Weeks (1st), Ron, Keith Ray, Tony Anderson, Makenna Pineda, Darious Walker, Jr. (2nd) and Emily Kernutt, Stan Wilson and Smiley (3rd).

No anniversaries for the week.
