LOWELL / SYRINGA The headlines in Lowell and Syringa this week is the construction starting up our way on Highway 12. Knife River Construction Company and Idaho Transportation Department are moving into our area. It’s been announced in the news and all the newspapers so we all know it’s happening, but just a local spin from this column today.
The delays will be in 20-minute intervals, the bicyclists will be bused across the construction area, and don’t forget, it won’t affect the beauty, the fishing, the hiking, or camping.
You can still have some s’mores at night and wet your feet in the cool clear waters of the Lochsa, Selway, and Clearwater rivers.
You can still take your kids and grandkids fishing at Fenn Pond or along the river, you can still hike up to Coolwater Lookout on a summer day.
Camp out with your feet in the sun while you’re reading a good book.
Fix yourself a sandwich and find a shade tree, take your binoculars and bird book and walk up the Selway Road. Life is good here and if you want to, you can forget your cares and worries.
Of course, if you are retired, and living in a 100-year-old log cabin, there are no worries!
