— Look for new employment opportunities soon in Elk City.

John McKee and Steve Knutzen have started the business “Tac Tech Manufacturing.”

The duo, who both retired to the Elk City area, are manufacturing trailers to be used for communications during emergencies.

“We’re both ex-military and proud to be a veteran-owned company,” McKee said.

The trailers are custom-built, two-wheeled with a tongue and mast, and will be available for lease and sale.

“We start with a basic trailer, then the customer can customize their options,” McKee said. Options include cellular coverage, Wi-Fi and video surveillance. Clients can configure the trailers any way they wish.

McKee said Tac Tech is nearly ready with a promo trailer.

“Once we market these and start to get sales, we will be ready to hire local people to manufacture the trailers, right here in Elk City,” he said.

Some skilled welders and technology persons will be needed, while others will be hands-on and on-the-job training.

The steel and aluminum communication trailers will be sold for emergency use in hurricanes, floods and fires, among other natural disasters or man-caused emergencies.

McKee can be reached by phone at 208-842-9298 or e-mail at; contact Knutzen at 573-337-2450 or
