GRANGEVILLE Lester and Esther Nelson of Grangeville, Idaho, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary Saturday, July 28, 2018, from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Grangeville Christian Church, 402 W. South 1st Street, Grangeville. The guests of honor request no gifts other than the honor of the presence of family and friends.
The couple was married Aug. 6, 1948, at the home of Ernest and Elsie Ringer, Esther’s parents, in Payette, Idaho.
He worked at a lumber mill at Payette when they got married. After moving to Grangeville, he worked at IdaPine Mills until his retirement as well as sold Fuller Brush for a few years. She worked at Prairie Cafe, Wagner Auto Sales and Gortsema RV. They both retired in 1988.
The Nelsons are longtime members of Grangeville Christian Church. He is a member of VFW and American Legion; she the VFW auxiliary. They were involved with Boy Scouts and Job’s Daughters while their two children were growing up as well as being involved with their kids’ sports and musical activities. She was a member of the Handy Hands Club and they were also members of the Good Sam’s Club.
They have two children, six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and two more on the way.
