— A preliminary hearing is this Friday, July 20, for an Oregon man arrested earlier this month following a high-speed pursuit through the Clearwater area.

Jeremy W. Garcia, 40, with his last address as Grants Pass, was arraigned July 9 on charges of felony eluding, misdemeanor resisting and obstructing and driving without privileges.

Charges resulted following a Friday night, July 6, incident. According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Sam AuGello observed a Green 1997 Subaru Legacy driving recklessly and turning from Pleasant Valley Loop onto Sally Ann Road. The vehicle quickly accelerated away from Deputy AuGello as he attempted to stop it, reaching speeds estimated to be in excess of 80 miles per hour in the 35-mile-per-hour zone.

The vehicle came to a stop in the ditch on James Road and the driver fled the scene. Sergeant Craig Hoodman assisted in an area search. During the search, information was received that the driver, later identified as Garcia, had been staying at a residence on Dalton Acres Road.

Garcia was located outside the Dalton Acres residence, and he allegedly approached Deputy AuGello in an aggressive and threatening manner. AuGello aimed his Taser at Garcia who was ignoring his commands, and Sergeant Hoodman assisted Garcia with complying and placed him under arrest.
