Corral Dust: Border Days news from the Ole' Cowpoke

— It’s hard to believe another year has rolled around, but here we are. Border Days this year is set for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, July 4, 5 and 6. Rodeos are 6 p.m. each night and parades are at 2 p.m. each day.

*

You may have noticed how active the Border Days royalty have been this past year. Queen Micaela Farris and Princess Bella Klapprich, who will both be seniors at Grangeville High School this fall, have been crazy busy representing Idaho’s oldest rodeo.

*

This year’s grand marshal for Border Days will be Ernie Robinson. Look for details on him soon as I travel to visit with Ernie this week.

*

We hear this year’s Border Days Committee president is Tanner Fogleman. It’s hard to believe he is old enough to take on such a responsibility, just having graduated from Grangeville High School in 2011. Kudos to him for stepping up to the plate. Remember to thank those hardworking cowboys who make Border Days run smoothly.

Did you see the new additions to the Border Days area? The committee removed the old beer stand and are replacing it with a much larger stand and storage building.

*

Camas Prairie Cruisers will host its car Show and Shine Thursday, July 5, across the street from Pioneer Park, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

*

Just an FYI: The Lions Club is planning to have the burger trailer out at Heritage Square as usual this July 3-7. Get ready for a Lions burger!

*

If you have Border Days news, get it to the Idaho County Free Press as soon as possible so we can include it in the upcoming special section.
