— The summer is officially here since graduations are finished and most of the children are out of school. Bring on the summer fun. I love looking out across the Camas Prairie where everything is so beautiful with all of the rain we have been having. The snowcapped mountains in the background complete the picture.

We have had lots of waterfowl landing on ours ponds recently. This flock of 13 swans stayed for about a week.

The Haiti team left for their trip on Monday morning, June 4. We hope they have a good trip and come back with amazing stories.

It’s vacation Bible school time at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 404 Foster, Cottonwood. Children age 4 through 6th grades are admitted free from 9 a.m. to noon June 11 through 15. During the same week teenagers can experience Game On! With Bible study and special activities planned just for them from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This week of fun, food, and exciting learning opportunities is free of charge and open to everyone. Call Pastor Dan at 208-962-2407.

Ordination of Joseph Lustig to priesthood will take place in Boise on June 8. Mass times will switch on Sunday, June 10. Do you appreciate the 7 p.m. Sunday evening Mass at Holy Cross during the summertime? Consider taking a turn mowing the lawn this season. A newer model riding lawnmower is available on site and gas can be provided upon request. Preferred mowing window each week is Thursday evening through Saturday evening. Sign-up sheet is in the entrance at Holy Cross Chapel or call Lynn Goeckner at 208-962-3133 to reserve a weekend that fits your schedule. Mowing season runs now through September (or until the grass stops growing).

The Cottonwood Public Library would like to invite all children from grades K-6 to their summer reading program. Kristyna Krogh is the leader this year. She has taken on this program as her senior project. The afternoons will be spent learning about space, the planets and the constellations. The program will be from 1 to 3 p.m. June 4,7,11,14,18,21,25 Mondays and Thursdays. Join us for a fun time of books, crafts and snacks. Contact Colleen Sonnen if you have any questions.

All members of the Tri-Parish are invited to participate in the 58th annual “Running of the Rose” program. Since there will be no Mass on Tuesday, June 5, the Knights of Columbus will host a prayer stop along the route of the Silver Rose Pilgrimage beginning at 6:30 p.m., at St. Mary’s Church in Cottonwood. During the stopover, the Knights are offering the Tri-Parish an occasion for prayer and spiritual renewal centered on the rosary. Booklets containing recommended prayers, scripture readings, and a litany will accompany the Silver Rose. The purpose is to honor the Blessed Virgin under her title of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas. It also reaffirms our dedication to the sanctity of human life. Join us. The program will last about one hour.
