Howard tops ‘Hill Of It’ bike race

The lead group of 2018’s Just For The Hill Of It racers passed through White Bird within 15 minutes of the race’s start time last Saturday, June 2, and finished the whole hill climb in less than 50 minutes.

The lead group of 2018’s Just For The Hill Of It racers passed through White Bird within 15 minutes of the race’s start time last Saturday, June 2, and finished the whole hill climb in less than 50 minutes.



— Shawn Howard of Spokane finished the 24th annual Just For The Hill Of It bike race first with a time of 49 minutes, 28.61 seconds, having outpaced his winning time last year by about a minute.

The Syringa Hospice fund-raiser on Saturday, June 2, saw sunny skies, favorable temperatures and 40 riders who ranged in age from 10 to 72. They came from Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Colorado.
