Letter to the Editor

Eight years ago the group, “You Know You Grew up in Grangeville, Idaho if …” started, having GHS All Class Reunions and has had attendees who graduated from GHS as far back as the early 1940s and every decade since has been represented each year at the reunion. This year’s all-class reunion will be held after the parade on Thursday, July 5, at the gun club and all at no cost to those attending. Seating available inside or bring a chair and enjoy the view outside while seeing old friends and making new ones. If you went to school or taught in Grangeville, all are welcome.

“You Know You Grew up in Grangeville, Idaho if …” is a Facebook group that is made up of people who live in Grangeville and those who have moved away, but want to stay in touch with what made Grangeville a great place to live, work, attend school and hang out on any given Saturday night. Many memories and pictures have been shared and replies to those memories can come from several different generations. Old friendships have been rekindled and many new friendships have been formed. Recent posts on the site have included pictures of the old school that was destroyed in a fire in the 1960s, the old brewery that was on Main Street, several high school and grade school pictures from members of the group, old liquor bottles and pop bottles bottled in Grangeville and many other pictures to help remind us or teach us about the history of Grangeville and surrounding areas. We have also had recent posts regarding: What state do you live in now; remembering the Frosty Wagon parked across the street from the park; the big slide at the park; serpentines and bonfires at our homecoming games, 4th of July and the greased pig contest and hundreds more.

“You Know You Grew up in Grangeville, Idaho if …” now has more than 2,500 members on Facebook and would like to invite anyone who has a connection to Grangeville to sign up and enjoy this social media site and share your memories about good ole’ Grangeville.
