Ignore Syringa Hospital pharmacy, support Irwin Drug

Letter to the Editor

The primary role of Syringa Hospital and Clinics is to provide a good medical staff. I pay my taxes to the hospital in support of medical security with good physician care.

So, why has Syringa Hospital and Clinics opened a pharmacy?

In the past, Grangeville has had more than one pharmacy. This is competition between two businesses. Now we have our downtown pharmacy in direct competition with a federal government program. Chad Jungert, owner of Irwin Drug, in a recent Free Press article has emphasized Irwin will meet the price of competitors. So, is it Syringa’s goal to kill our downtown pharmacy and shopping experience? Today, in too many other small towns across America, the heart of small downtown business is in deep jeopardy.

I served on the Syringa Hospital Board for 12 years. As a member of the board, never in my life would I have supported this combative action.

There is one way to stop this! Totally ignore the Syringa pharmacy and support our downtown business, Irwin Drug.
