Riggins News: EMTs needed; course cost covered

Jeannie Fitch 628-3845

My quote for the week is “Love isn’t what you say. Love is what you do.” Right from Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne.

EMT volunteers are needed in the Riggins area. This need is real…and is important. We need both EMTs and drivers. The rewards outweigh the commitment. EMT training is provided right here in Riggins: two three-hour classes per week for a total of 140-160 hours. The cost of the initial training, $1,500, is covered by Riggins EMS…no cost to the volunteer. They have ongoing training every two months which goes toward recertification hours. Ambulance drivers are required to have a valid driver’s license and the physical ability to assist the EMT. Training involves riding along on runs and passing a basic online test. The volunteers do get paid per run depending on their level of training…Basic EMT $40 per run; driver $35 per run. The City Council also budgets for a year-end bonus based on number of on -call shifts. Call or go to the Riggins City Hall and offer your services today.
