Track & Field

— During their first track meet of the season last Saturday, March 17, the Prairie girls ran near the front of the pack.

With 20 teams competing from across North Central Idaho as well as western Washington, the PHS girls placed third overall behind top-two individual finishes by Laney Uhlenkott (1:06:44 in the 400) and Ciara Chaffee (2:39.60 in the 800). Prairie also ran the fastest 4x200 relay, with Ellea Uhlenkott, Sierra McWilliams, Jordyn Higgins and Laney Uhlenkott combining to finish the half-mile in 1:56.30, about a half-second ahead of a quartet from Asotin.

Clearwater Valley’s Melanie Gianopulos placed second in the 1,600 (6:00.20).

Among boys, the Kamiah medley relay placed first with Tyrel Henry, Kaleb Oatman, Jace Sams and Michael MacMenamin finishing in 4:00.70.
