Investigation is under way following yesterday's discovery of a body at Winchester, reports Lewis County Sheriff Jason Davis.

On Wednesday, March 21, at approximately 5:29 p.m., the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) received reports that hikers had located a deceased adult body in a wooded area below the spillway of Winchester State Park. According to a release, LCSO responded to the scene and confirmed initial reports. The Idaho State Police (ISP) Investigations Division was requested by LCSO to assist in a joint investigation.

During processing of the scene it was determined that the body was an adult male. Neither LCSO nor ISP has gathered any evidence to suggest foul play in this case.

The body has been turned over to the Lewis County Coroner’s Office to positively identify the deceased.
