One of the more behind the scenes but important jobs at GHR is in medical records.
Pam Carey has worked in medical records at the center since 2009.
“I have mostly always been involved in the medical field somehow and I do enjoy it,” Carey said.
Residents’ medical records can be lengthy and include a variety of items such as physician and therapy orders, care plans, nursing assessments, medication, treatment and more.
Born in Redlands, Calif., and raised in Arizona, she said she and her husband, Ken, came to Idaho as empty nesters. They have four children and eight grandchildren.
“We really love it here,” she said. They enjoy spending time outdoors in the summer, on the water and in their home garden.
Although Carey does not always work directly with res-idents, she said she does see them often and is encouraged by the progress they make and the things they do.
“It is very rewarding to see a person come in and work hard and progress to the point where he or she gets to go home,” she said.
Of course, she added, she also enjoys the people she works with.
