Cottonwood News: Dr. Jones open house is April 8

— Happy Easter to all of you! Easter is early this year so that means an early spring also. Even though we didn’t have the bad winter that was predicted, I’m ready for spring.

Emmanuel Baptist Church, 404 Foster in Cottonwood will be having a Sonrise Easter service beginning at 6 a.m. on Sunday, April 1. There will be a potluck breakfast to follow. Sunday School for all ages is 8:45 a.m. and morning worship service at 10 a.m. The church choir will perform an Easter Cantata “He’s Alive” at both services. Come join us, we’d love to worship our Risen Savior with you.

The Mass schedule for Holy Week in the Tri-Parish is as follows: Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper-Assumption 5:30 p.m.; St. Mary’s 7:30 p.m. Good Friday-Stations of the Cross at 12 noon at St. Mary’s. Celebration of the Lord’s Passion- Assumption 5:30 p.m.; St. Mary’s 7:30 p.m. Holy Saturday Easter Vigil: 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s. Easter Sunday Masses: St. Mary’s-8 a.m., St. Anthony-10 a.m. Assumption-10 a.m. (Msgr. Schumacher)

An Easter egg hunt will be held on Saturday, March 31, at 10 a.m. at the Ferdinand ball park for children 0-12 years of age. Cash donations are welcome to help fund the following year. Also, on Saturday, March 31, at 10 a.m., Greencreek will have an Easter egg hunt on the church lawn for children age 0-12 years. Prizes will be awarded for each age group.

All KC members and their families are invited to participate in our roadside cleanup on Saturday, April 7. We will meet 8 the KC Hall for the mandatory safety briefing. We will depart immediately after the briefing heading north on Highway 95 to our two-mile stretch of road. We should be finished by 10:30 a.m. Come out and participate and support our community and our country.

On Sunday, April 8, an open house in honor of Dr. Andy Jones will be held at the Cottonwood Community Hall from 1 to 3 p.m. All are welcome. Let’s show Dr. Jones how much we care!

Mark your calendar for the Sunday after Easter, Divine Mercy Sunday. The Knights of Columbus invite you to a special event, “Wheelchair Sunday.” The Knights of Columbus and The American Wheelchair Mission will be here in the Tri-Parish at all Masses, April 7 and 8 to explain how you can help provide mercy to the poorest of the poor, to gain mobility and freedom. Join them for this inspirational and moving presentation.
