Cottonwood News: Help sought with ‘Wizard of Oz’ play

— We have had some swans at our place for about a week. They come and go but mostly they are feeding here on the pasture. Wild ducks and the Canadian geese are not unusual, but the swans are. We very seldom see them. We also had a mud duck that we have never seen before. It’s a different year, I guess.

There will be a community play, “The Wizard of Oz,” presented July 20 and 21 at the Greencreek Community Hall. This event is sponsored by the St. Anthony Society and will be directed by Elizabeth Nuxoll (Martin). Everyone in our Camas Prairie communities age 12 and older is invited to be part of this. We will need people to act and help behind the scenes. If you are interested in helping, especially behind the scenes, contact Nuxoll at 208-936-8087 or email We especially need ideas for sound and lighting equipment. A Mother/Daughter Breakfast will be Sunday, June 3, at the Assumption Parish Hall. All women, mothers, daughters of the Tri-parish are invited. The men will serve breakfast at 9:15 a.m. Greg Nau volunteered to chair this event.

A retreat titled, “A Woman’s Call to Spirituality, Emerging Faith in Our Daily Walk,” begins May 18 at 7:30 p.m., and continues through May 20, at 1:30 p.m. Suggested donation is $220 for singles and $170 each for shared.
