The fight to save the Union and free millions from bondage was not won when a few men assembled in a town square to drill. But that is where the struggle started. The fight against Nazism was not won where our fathers and grandfathers lined up at the recruiting office, but that is where the struggle started.

The fight to regain control of our political system, to end the dominance and corrupt influence of money and entrenched interests on the entire electoral process will not be won at the Idaho County Democratic Party Caucus, but perhaps for our community, that is where it will start. But make no mistake, we are not alone. Our brothers and sisters are already in the field.

On Monday, May 14, at the Grangeville Senior Center the Idaho County Democratic Party (ICDP) will hold a caucus to elect delegates for the Idaho Democratic Party Convention, June 29th-30, Caldwell. Attendees will draft the state party platform. All registered Democrats, willing to sign a pledge form are both eligible to nominate, to nominate themselves, to be nominated, and to vote for the candidates. I call on all of our Idaho County Democrat electorate to attend!

I especially reach out to those who were active in the 2016 presidential candidate race, here and elsewhere. I drove to Iowa and volunteered for that caucus. Leave your cynicism for someone else. Leave your apathy for someone else. Leave your exhaustion for someone else.

Step up and ante in; for many of you, once again. For if not us, who? If not now, when? Our doors will open at 6:30, closing at 7, as per caucus protocol. I will be waiting to greet you.
