COTTONWOOD Sometimes the perfect job comes along at just the right time.
“I get to work outside,” smiled Dan Lustig. “That’s a huge plus.”
Lustig recently became the store manager for The Tire Guy. He is in charge of keeping the store running smoothly, which includes keeping an inventory of tires needed for customers.
He previously worked four years for Gortsema Motors in the service department, and prior to that was employed by Les Schwab.
“I enjoyed working for Joe and Kurt Lotchspeich at Gortsema,” he said. “It was a great place to work.”
However, the outdoors called.
“The chance to be outside is what really got me, and, coupled with the fact I still get to work daily with the public – it was just the right position for me,” he said.
Lustig and his wife, Edie, enjoy working on their home in their spare time.
“I also like to play in the shop,” he grinned.
Edie is a paraprofessional at Grangeville Elementary Middle School. The couple has four sons: Cale is employed by Les Schwab in Logan, Utah; Eric works for Les Schwab in Rancho Cordova, Calif.; Evan is a third-grade teacher in Camas, Wash.; and Nick works for a law firm in New York. They also have three grandchildren.
Ryan Uhlenkott owns The Tire Guy, which he purchased from Don Nuxoll. Nuxoll Shell Service opened in 1914 at the location and Don purchased the business from his parents in 1980. Uhlenkott opened The Tire Guy in November 2016.
The business offers full auto repair and care in addition to tires.
The Tire Guy is located at 501 Main Street in Cottonwood and can be reached at 208-962-3241.
