RIGGINS With the theme of “Riggins Rodeo … 70 Years of Thrills, Frills and Spills … and They Keep Coming Back,” the Riggins Rodeo is set for this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, May 5 and 6. (All times MT.)
Gary Miller will lead the rodeos and parade as this year’s grand marshal, along with queen Jillian Hausladen. Hausladen is a junior at Grangeville High School, the daughter of Renita Lee and Brett Hausladen.
The rodeo will start each day at 1:30 p.m. The parade is set for Sunday, 11 a.m. Rodeo tickets are $10 each for adults, $5 for those ages 7-12, and 6 and younger get in for free. Rodeos will feature local team roping, ranch bronc, saddle bronc, calf roping, bull riding, bareback riding, barrel racing, steer riding and wild cow milking. The Kids Stick Horse Race, sponsored by Main Street Hair and Tourist Trap Consignment & Gift Shop, will again be held Sunday for kiddos ages 3-10 with several divisions. Sign-ups begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Rodeo Grounds; races begin at 1 p.m., in the rodeo arena
The traditional Riggins Cowboy Breakfast will be served Sunday from 7-10 a.m., at the Riggins Community Center behind the Chevron Station.
