Elk City News: Cranes cause racket ‘yelling’ at geese

— We heard a racket down in our meadow and when we went to investigate, there were three sandhill cranes “yelling” at four Canada geese, apparently invading their territory. The photo only shows one goose but there were more. Hope you enjoy!

Mother’s Day is just around the corner on the 13th. Take time to appreciate your mother in thought and deed. If she is not living, tell your grandkids about her.

Don’t forget the Friends of the Elk City Library will be hosting its beer and wine tasting and auction for the community on Friday, May 19, at the laundromat. They need some donations that you can leave at the school with Nichele Slover or contact Sue Phillips at 208-842-2359. The “Pick-n-Pay” books feature will also be around. Stay tuned for more info...this is a great way to support the community library. There will be desserts with coffee and tea and a cheese tasting event this year to appeal to those with non-alcohol preferences,
