Victim taken to Syringa Hospital for evaluation

— An arraignment hearing is pending for a Kooskia resident alleged to have beat another man with a pipe.

Kevin M. Gamboa, 38, was taken into custody on Sunday, May 6, and charged with aggravated battery, a felony. He was released on his own recognizance.

The charge resulted following a 10:40 a.m. report of a fight in progress at the River Junction R.V. Park outside Kooskia, according to an Idaho County Sheriff’s Office release.

Sergeant Craig Hoodman responded and was advised Gamboa had struck Haneford D. Benware, 61 of Kooskia, several times with a pipe. Gamboa left the scene after neighbors intervened in the incident.

Clearwater Valley Ambulance was summoned and Benware was transported to Syringa Hospital in Grangeville to assess the injuries to his head, elbow and back. Patient status of Benware was unavailable as of press time.

Hoodman and Kamiah Marshal Jason Bowman made contact with Gamboa on Woodland Road where he was taken into custody.
