Two Idaho County school districts will ask patrons to vote for school maintenance and operation levies Tuesday, May 15.

As the state approved an increased education budget, Cottonwood Joint School District 242 superintendent Rene’ Forsmann said the district will be able to balance their budget for 2018-19 with a smaller override levy than last year.

The district will ask for a $325,000 (the previous year’s levy was for $350,000).

In Salmon River Joint School District 243, patrons will be asked to approve a $525,000 levy.

In 2017, Riggins’ Salmon River levy of $525,000 passed 149 yes to 32 no for a 82.3 percent passage rate. Cottonwood’s levy of $350,000 also passed in 2017, 269 yes to 112 no, for an approval rate of 70.6 percent.
