— Alcohol is a suspected factor in last week’s fatal vehicle crash outside Kamiah.

Roy J. Gehrke, 62, of Nezperce, succumbed to his injuries at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, according to Idaho State Police.

The crash was reported last Saturday, May 12, 4:15 p.m. on State Highway 162 near milepost 27.9, according to ISP. Gehrke was driving a 1990 Jeep Cherokee eastbound, went off the right shoulder and struck a large tree head-on.

Gehrke was not wearing a seat belt.
