Jungert ‘off base’ to take hospital off rolls

Letter to the Editor

My husband, Scott Scribner, was on the board when Syringa decided to enter into agreement with Irwin Drug to introduce the 340-B program. It was meeting the intended goal – lowering cost of drugs for all who qualified.

Scott left the board and I was elected. Then it was brought before the board there were problems and we had to make a decision: Do we drop the program, or should the hospital take over? It was never about making money. It was always about the people who would lose the discounts that might mean the difference between having their prescriptions or going without. We voted to make space in our remodel with no thought of making money.

Chad [Jungert] is way off base. Taking the hospital off the tax rolls or who pays the pharmacist are not the issues.
