Among the best marks and times in their respective classifications on the boys side were the pole vault height of Kamiah’s Michael MacMenamin (12-3) and the 200 meter dash time of Grangeville’s Braison Norman (23.59).

Against relatively thin 2A competition in the district, the Grangeville girls won seven of the district’s individual events as well as three relays, including JaKaili Norman’s 100 (13.21), Zoe Lutz’s 400 (1:06.88), Megan Bashaw’s 800 (2:56.81), Baeli Kinsley’s 300 hurdles (50.60), Kirsten Olson’s high jump (4-6) and Paige Lindsley’s triple jump (32-7).

In addition to his district-best 200, Grangeville’s Braison Nor- man won the 100 (11.70) and qualified in the high jump. Grangeville’s Ethan Pollan also doubled, with wins in both the 1600 (5:05.37) and 3200 (11:25.05) distance runs, and qualified for a third event with a runner-up finish to Grangeville’s Adam Wonnacott in the 800.

Wonnacott’s win in the 800 (2:11.82) – listed one-one hundredth of a second faster than Pollan’s time – rounded out the Bulldogs’ top placings.

Kamiah’s 1A boys posted two relay wins at the district meet, in addition to Kaleb Oatman’s discus (141-7).

Prairie’s Sean Spencer won the 110 hurdles (16.49).

Looking forward to the state meet, on the girls side, Prairie’s relays appear formidable, with the 4x200 group of Theresa Wemhoff, Sierra McWilliams, Jordyn Higgins and Laney Uh- lenkott seeded about a second ahead of Raft River, and Prairie’s 4x100 foursome of Wemhoff, Ellea Uhlenkott, Higgins and Laney Uhlenkott is penciled within about a half-second of both Oakley and Murtaugh. Prairie also won the district’s 4x400, with Wemhoff, Higgins, Ciara Chaffee and Laney Uhlenkott running.

Kamiah’s Lacey Kludt – one of the few who doubled at the district meet – is headed to state as the third seed in both the 1A girls discus (111-07) and shot put (34-31⁄2).

Clearwater Valley’s Melanie Gianopulos won the district’s 3200 (12:17.87), which also pencils as a third seed.

In all, 39 locals qualified to compete individually. They, and 13 local relay teams, are set to compete with field events as early as 9 a.m. Friday morning. Track preliminaries start Friday afternoon and track finals to con- clude Saturday afternoon, with all events to be held at Middleton High School northwest of Boise.

Among the individual qualifiers are 15 for Grangeville (seven boys, eight girls), eight for Prairie (four boys, four girls), eight for Kamiah (six boys, two girls), four for Salmon River (all boys) and four for Clearwater Valley (two boys, two girls).
