Valley-area residents win art contest

— Friday, April 20th, the Upriver Youth Leadership Council’s (UYLC) Youth Advisory Board (YAB), hosted a drawing contest. Each contestant had about a month to prepare art pieces for the big day.

Students competed in four different entry categories: K-3rd, 4th-8th, 9th-12th, and adults (19-plus).

“It was very difficult for voters to choose one piece to vote for in each category because they were all so good! It is no secret that there are many talented artists, and YAB’s drawing contest proved that much,” said Jasmine Huerta, Pro-Social Engagement Specialist with UYLC. “Thank you to all who submitted your beautiful, hard work! In the future, YAB will be hosting another drawing contest!”

Miah Sams, Kamiah resident, won her grade category, K-3rd; Whitney Andrews, Kooskia resident, won her grade category, 4th-8th with “Rip Van Winkle;” Bethany Fuller, a Harpster resident, won her grade category, 9th-12th with a piece titled: “Anime Alana;” Tori Strombeck, Kamiah resident, won the adult category for the Youth Advisory Board’s Drawing Contest with her art piece, “Proverbs.”
