GRANGEVILLE Charges have been forwarded to the county prosecutor for review concerning last month’s vandalism incident at Dale’s Rescue Towing that involved several juveniles and resulted in thousands of dollars in estimated vehicle damage.
According to an Idaho County Sheriff’s Office report, Deputy Andrew Beene stated $13,000 was estimated in windshield damage to 66 vehicles stored on the wrecking lot at 1427 Prairie Road north of Grangeville.
The damages were reported April 23 by owners Dale and Connie Weeks, with Dale stating the incident happened the week prior. At the time, several juveniles were at the wrecking yard looking for parts, and Dale had to leave and let them look by themselves. Later, he noted several vehicles in the yard had broken windows, also found several polishing stones were missing and also scattered across the property.
In Beene’s interviews between April 28 to May 11, three juvenile suspects – names were redacted as they are not public information – admitted to breaking vehicle windows at Dale’s yard. The report stated they started by throwing a spark plug through the first one, and it escalated from there, using a hammer, metal bar and the polishing stones.
